MVR Hall - Martha's Cafe
This basement level renovation features a new seating area, serving area and fully functioning kitchen. In order to allow access to the basement level, the 4.5 story building was shored and a new foundation laid to upgrade an existing elevator. Materials such as oak, copper facing and slate were employed to integrate the new construction with the existing structure.
Earth tones invoke an traditional character reflective of Cornell University. A unique, hand-painted mural adorns the walls adjacent to the seating area. The resulting facility is remarkable due to the progressive construction schedule. Careful attention to details in the drawings made this rapid construction possible.
